Description
Aglaophenia is a genus of hydrozoans belonging to the family Lafoeidae. These marine organisms are characterized by their feather-like colonies that can reach several centimeters in height. The individual polyps of Aglaophenia species are encased in a protective chitinous covering and are connected by a horizontal stem, forming intricate, bushy structures. They are predominantly found in temperate and tropical seas, where they attach to substrates such as rocks, seaweeds, and coral reefs.
