Versuriga Jellyfish [Versurigidae]
Description
Versurigidae, or Versuriga Jellyfish, is a relatively less known family within the order Rhizostomeae. These jellyfish are characterized by their vibrant colorations and elaborate oral arms, which can be highly branched and extend outward in various directions. The Versuriga Anadyomene is among the notable species, admired for its striking appearance and often studied for its unique biological features. Found in both shallow and deeper oceanic waters, they contribute to the marine food web by preying on small fish and zooplankton while also serving as prey for larger marine predators.
