Description

Littorinidae, or periwinkles, comprises small to medium-sized marine and brackish water snails. They are characterized by their sturdy, usually globular shells, and are found worldwide, from the tropics to the poles, inhabiting intertidal zones. Periwinkles are grazers, feeding on algae on rocks and other surfaces.
