Description

Ligiidae, or marine slaters, are isopods found in coastal areas, often under rocks or in crevices at the high tide mark. They resemble terrestrial woodlice and are adapted to life in moist environments. Marine slaters play a significant role in the decomposition of organic materials, recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem.
