Lucernariidae [Lucernariidae]

Description

Lucernariidae is a family of stalked jellyfish distinguished by their umbrella-like shape and the presence of eight arms that are divided into numerous tentacled lobes. These jellyfish are typically found in shallow, coastal waters, often attaching themselves to seagrasses or seaweeds. They are capable of a limited amount of movement along the substrate. Lucernariidae species are predatory, feeding on small aquatic organisms, which they catch with their tentacles. Their bodies are often translucent, and some species display vibrant colors.
