Longhorned Bristleworms [Chaetopteridae]
Description
Chaetopteridae, or longhorned bristleworms, are a family of polychaete worms known for their unique tube-dwelling lifestyle. These worms construct and inhabit parchment-like tubes in the marine benthos. They have a distinctive body division into three regions, each with different functions and morphologies. The middle region is equipped with specialized parapodia for feeding, using mucus nets to capture particles. They are found in a variety of marine environments, from shallow waters to the deep sea.
