Gadilidae [Gadilidae]
Description
Gadilidae is a family of scaphopods known for their shorter and more bulbous shells compared to the elongated shells of the Dentaliidae. These shells are also open at both ends but differ in their more cylindrical shape. Gadilidae species are found in a variety of marine environments, from shallow waters to the deep sea. They are detritivores, feeding on organic particles they collect from the substrate using their captacula.
