Crocodile Sharks [Pseudocarchariidae]

Description

Pseudocarchariidae, or crocodile sharks, include only one species, the crocodile shark (Pseudocarcharias kamoharai). These small sharks are identifiable by their large eyes and slender bodies, adapted for life in the open ocean's mesopelagic zone. Despite their name, they bear little resemblance to crocodiles. Crocodile sharks are one of the smallest shark species in the order Lamniformes and are known for their deep-water habitats.
