The Manokwari area is renowned for its numerous WWII wrecks, which include both Japanese and American ships and aircraft. The wrecks are covered in coral and home to a diverse range of marine species. The most notable wreck is the Shinwa Maru, which is considered one of the best wreck dives in the world.
