About

Established in 1988, this dive center is a long-standing provider of daily dive and snorkel tours to the protected waters of the Nguthungulli Nature Reserve, more commonly known as Julian Rocks Marine Park. This marine park, a jewel off the coast of Byron Bay, is celebrated for its extraordinary biodiversity and consistently ranks as a premier dive destination. Divers here are treated to an underwater spectacle featuring over 1,000 species of fish, a testament to the health and richness of the ecosystem. The park is adorned with approximately 130 species of coral, forming intricate habitats that support this vast array of marine life. The encounters divers can expect are truly remarkable. The park is a sanctuary for three species of turtles: the graceful green turtle, the robust loggerhead turtle, and the critically endangered Hawksbill turtle. Playful bottlenose dolphins are frequent visitors, often seen leaping and playing in the waves above or gliding through the water alongside divers. The area is also a known aggregation point for grey nurse sharks, a critically endangered species that divers can observe in their natural environment, offering a unique and humbling experience. Manta rays and eagle rays are also known to frequent these waters, adding to the allure of pelagic encounters. During the winter months, from June to November, the park becomes a vital corridor for migrating humpback whales, offering the possibility of incredible surface and even underwater encounters with these gentle giants. The water conditions at Julian Rocks are generally favorable, with good visibility often exceeding 15-20 meters, especially during the warmer months. The marine park's protected status ensures a thriving ecosystem, making it an ideal location for both beginner divers and experienced enthusiasts. Beginners can gain confidence in this relatively sheltered environment, while advanced divers can explore deeper sections and enjoy the abundance of marine life. This center offers an exceptional opportunity to experience one of Australia's most significant marine sanctuaries.
